Killybegs approx 6km east of us is the largest fishing port in Ireland and is a unique experience to view the modern trawlers and their sophisticated modern technology. The area around Killybegs is of equal beauty and the local people are friendly and helpful they will even give you a story or two of the old Killybegs.
If you feel a day on the beach weather permitting a Blue Flag beach is just west of the town.
If you find the weather a little damp Killybegs has a well equipped Library to pick up a Book or send an E Mail Home.
Kilcar approx 5km on our west side is a beautiful drive along our little road past the hidden coves and splendour of Muckross Head with its caves, great for adventure.
Kilcar Village home of Studio Donegal, Tweed to die for and at wonderful prices.
Experience the Heritage and culture of this area the people are renowned for their warmth and welcome and you are guaranteed it in a pub in Kilcar for a pint of the Black stuff.
Keeping to the Coast along to Carrick and down into Teelin the short drive to Slieve League (Mountain of the flag Stones) Cliffs situated on the West coast are said to be the highest and most magnificent marine cliffs in Europe and when you see them you will agree a 600m drop to the raging Atlantic below it is an unique and breathtaking view you will find hard to forget.
Of course if you are a thrill seeker and need more, a walk to the top of the cliffs is a must not for the faint hearted and we always advise to do this weather permitting and good shoes. If you would like to view them from below I can recommend this to be equally as nice and boats are available regularly from Teelin.
